Now Dropbox.com is down!, but go back to the learn site :)

Sorry, but, the dropbox is down. However, I have the fingerprint and serology materials in the http://learn.spartaschools.org site. Remember, when you login, use your first.lastname@SPARTA.LAN and then use your normal login password that you use at school. For example, when I login I use matt.landry@sparta.lan as my login.

Additionally, by the end of the evening, I will have all of the exam review materials posted including a folder that will have all of the PowerPoint from the semester in it. Happy studies!

Learn Site is Back - Sort Of

Hello everyone. I hope you have enjoyed your break and are ready to finish the last three weeks of the semester. Here are some updates and a vision of where we are going with the rest of the semester:

1. The learn site is back - kinda/sorta. A new learn site is present but it doesn't have all of the old unit info. I will plug all of the current and future units into the site over the next week, but I am not sure when the old stuff will be available. If its not brought back soon, I will put together a folder of all of the notes from the semester to help you in preparing for the final exam. In the meantime, I still have the files I setup at dropbox.com available, and the links are below:

2. Monday will involve reviewing the blood typing activities from the Friday prior to break. We will then complete the lab analysis and conclusions and discuss how blood typing is used for associating blood found at a crime scene to a suspect and how its used in the first round of paternity testing. We will also complete some practice with this.

3. Tuesday will be a demo/video day where we will review the presumptive tests for blood as well as moving on to the confirmatory tests for blood. We will also discuss how semen found at a crime scene is tested and helpful in solving the crime.

4. Wednesday we will begin looking at blood spatter and completing several activities that deal with point of origin and areas of convergence. This will then lead into the blood spatter lab that will take place Thursday and Friday and will involve you doing numerous activities that involve blood spatter as well as recording some of your tests, observations, and interpretations and posting them to YouTube.

5. Next week we will get into DNA testing and its procedures and the unit test will be towards the end of the week. We will then do a brief piece with toxicology and/or begin preparing for the practical (solving a crime scene constructed by Mr. Landry) and written portions of the final exam.

I look forward to seeing everyone on Monday.
